Today, you’ll drive from Pokhara to Hile village (1,430 m), a 2-3 hour journey that covers approximately 52 kilometers. From Hile, your trek begins, leading you through Tikhedhunga to Ulleri. The trek covers a distance of around 3 kilometers and typically takes 2-3 hours. The trail ascends gradually, passing through charming villages, terraced fields, and dense rhododendron forests. During the trek from Hile Village to Ulleri, you'll experience an elevation ascent of 550 meters and a descent of 10 meters. Ulleri, perched at 1,960 meters, offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and distant snow-capped peaks. Your trek to Ghorepani begins with a challenging ascent, climbing over 1,000 stone steps from Ulleri. The trail stretches over 8 kilometers, taking around 4-5 hours to complete. During the trek from Ullri to Ghorepani, you'll experience an elevation ascent of 840 meters and a descent of 30 meters. The trail meanders through dense rhododendron forests, especially vibrant during spring, and offers occasional glimpses of the snow-clad peaks. As you approach Ghorepani, the air becomes cooler, and the views more breathtaking. Ghorepani is a popular stopover for trekkers, offering panoramic vistas of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. On this day, you’ll rise early for a hike to Poon Hill to witness the spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Your guide will suggest the sunrise time based on your travel date, so be prepared for an early wake-up. The Poon Hill sunrise hike takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for a 2.75 km round trip, with a 270-meter ascent and descent, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas at dawn. Following breakfast at the lodge, we commenced our trek. During today’s trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani, we ascend 460 meters and descend 650 meters. The trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani covers approximately 8 kilometers and usually takes around 5 to 6 hours to finish. The sunrise at Poon Hill is a highlight of the trek, offering stunning panoramic views as the first light of day illuminates the peaks. The descent to Tadapani follows a scenic trail through lush forests and terraced fields. Tadapani, a tranquil village surrounded by natural beauty, is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the serene environment. Today's trek takes you to Chhomrong, a beautiful village perched on the lap of the Annapurna range. The trail stretches around 9 kilometers and typically requires 5-6 hours to complete. During the trek from Tadapani to Chhomrong, you'll experience an elevation ascent of 390 meters and a descent of 880 meters. The trail begins with a steep descent to Kimrong Khola, followed by an ascent to Chhomrong. Along the way, you’ll pass through dense forests, cross suspension bridges, and walk alongside terraced fields. The elevation gain is moderate, reaching 2,178 meters at Chhomrong. This village is the last major settlement on the trail to Annapurna Base Camp and offers stunning views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain)and Annapurna South. The journey to Dovan spans about 10 kilometers and usually takes 5-6 hours. During the trek from Chhomrong to Dovan, you'll experience an elevation ascent of 750 meters and a descent of 420 meters. The trail descends from Chhomrong to the Chhomrong Khola before ascending again through dense bamboo and rhododendron forests. As you climb, the elevation gain is gradual, reaching 2,600 meters at Dovan. The trek offers a mix of uphill and downhill sections, with the sound of the rushing Modi Khola river accompanying you along the way. Dovan is a small settlement surrounded by dense forests, offering a peaceful retreat after a day of trekking. Today’s trek to Machhapuchchhre Base Camp (MBC) is one of the highlights of your journey. The trek covers around 9 kilometers and takes 5-6 hours. During the trek from Dovan to Machhapuchchhre Base Camp, you'll experience an elevation ascent of 1,200 meters and a descent of 20 meters. The trail ascends steeply, with a substantial elevation gain from Dovan to Machhapuchchhre Base Camp. As you climb higher, the vegetation becomes sparse, and the landscape more rugged, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Machhapuchchhre, also known as Fishtail Mountain, stands majestically above, its unique shape a dominant feature of the skyline. Reaching Machhapuchchhre Base Camp at 3,700 meters, you’ll be surrounded by towering peaks, with the air crisp and the views breathtaking. The trek from MBC to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) is relatively short but involves a significant elevation gain. Covering around 3 kilometers, the trek takes 1-2 hours. During the trek from Machhapuchchhre Base Camp to Annapurna Base camp (4,130 m), you'll experience an elevation ascent of 450 meters and a descent of zero meters. The trail gradually ascends from MBC to ABC, with the elevation steadily increasing. As you approach Annapurna Base Camp, the landscape opens up, and you find yourself surrounded by a ring of towering peaks, including Annapurna I, the 10th highest mountain in the world. At 4,130 meters, Annapurna Base Camp offers one of the most spectacular mountain panoramas in the Himalayas. The sense of achievement and the breathtaking views make this a truly memorable day. After witnessing a stunning sunrise at Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m), you’ll start your descent towards Bamboo. This trail spans roughly 14 kilometers and usually takes 6-7 hours to complete. During the trek from Annapurna Base camp to Bamboo(2,310 m), you'll experience an elevation ascent of 10 meters and a descent of 1,800 meters. The descent is substantial, with a considerable drop in altitude. Along the way, you’ll revisit familiar paths through Machhapuchchhre Base Camp, Deurali, and Dovan, offering a new perspective on the terrain you previously climbed. The route winds through alpine meadows, thick forests, and follows the Modi Khola river. Bamboo, a peaceful haven nestled within dense forest, provides a well-earned rest after the lengthy descent. Although descending is easier on your lungs, it can be tough on your knees, so take your time to appreciate the changing landscapes. Today’s trek takes you from Bamboo through Sinuwa and Chhomrong to Jhinu Danda (1,780 m), concluding with a relaxing retreat at natural hot springs. The trek covers around 11 kilometers and typically takes 5-6 hours. During the trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1,780 m), you'll experience an elevation ascent of 470 meters and a descent of 1,050 meters. The trail begins with a short ascent to Khuldighar, followed by a steep descent to the Chhomrong Khola. After crossing the river, the trail climbs again to reach the village of Chhomrong before a final steep descent to Jhinu Danda. The total elevation loss today is considerable, from Bamboo to Jhinu Danda. Upon reaching Jhinu, you can relax in the natural hot springs located a short walk from the village. The warm, mineral-rich waters are a perfect way to soothe your muscles after days of trekking. After breakfast, you will commence the final leg of your Annapurna Base Camp trek, descending from Jhinu Danda to Siwai. This journey covers approximately 8 kilometers and typically takes 3 to 4 hours. The trail is predominantly downhill, with a gradual elevation decrease of about 250 meters. As you trek, the path leads you through verdant forests, picturesque terraced fields, and charming local villages, providing a final opportunity to experience the rural charm of the Annapurna region. Upon reaching Siwai, you’ll board a vehicle for the drive back to Pokhara, which takes about 2-3 hours, covering a distance of approximately 54 kilometers. Arriving in Pokhara (822 m), you’ll have the rest of the day to relax by the serene Phewa Lake or explore the city’s vibrant lakeside area. This is a perfect time to reflect on your trekking journey, enjoying the comfort and tranquility of Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu. Your adventure concludes with a luxurious and scenic drive from the lake city of Pokhara to the temple city of Kathmandu on a deluxe tourist bus. Book NowThis trek can be shortened by taking a direct route from Ghandruk to Base Camp and back. For a longer trek, start from Kande or Birethanti, pass through Poon Hill, and conclude at the opposite starting point. The ideal times for this trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).
