The Milke Danda Trek is celebrated for its remarkable biodiversity. During your journey, you’ll have the chance to spot 29 species of red-tailed deer and over 250 bird species. The trek is also renowned for its diverse rhododendron collection, featuring 29 out of Nepal’s 32 species. These vibrant flowers will light up your path throughout the trek.

The trail follows a 2,580-meter ridge that separates the Arun Valley from the Tamur Valley. This less-traveled route offers a serene and immersive nature experience. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage of the Limbu and Kirant communities.

Starting from Tumlingtar, this trek serves as a gateway to both the Milke Danda region and the Makalu Base Camp Trek. It also provides an alternative route to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek, expanding your adventure options in the region.

After completing the Milke Danda Trek, you have two return options. Choose a scenic 35-minute flight from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu for aerial views of the landscapes you explored. Alternatively, you can opt for an 18-hour bus ride through Dharan to Kathmandu, offering a chance to enjoy Eastern Nepal’s diverse scenery.

Once in Kathmandu, take time to explore top attractions. Visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square to admire its historic architecture, see the Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath, and explore the Hindu temple of Pashupatinath. These experiences will perfectly round off your adventure in Nepal.
