For the Oktang Base Camp Trek, ensure you have the necessary permits, such as the TIMS card and relevant national park permits. Essential gear includes sturdy trekking boots, warm layers, waterproof clothing, trekking poles, and a high-quality sleeping bag. Hiring a local guide enhances safety and enriches the experience, while porters can help carry gear. Acclimatize properly to prevent altitude sickness: ascend gradually, stay hydrated, and recognize symptoms. Adequate travel insurance is vital for high-altitude trekking.
