Essential gear includes sturdy trekking boots, warm layers, waterproof clothing, trekking poles, and a high-quality sleeping bag. Hiring a local guide enhances safety and enriches the experience, while porters can help carry gear. Acclimatize properly to prevent altitude sickness: ascend gradually, stay hydrated, and recognize symptoms. Adequate travel insurance is vital for high-altitude trekking.
