Discover vibrant local markets, indulge in traditional Nepali dishes, and delve into Kathmandu's rich cultural tapestry. This initial day is perfect for easing into your journey, setting the stage for the exciting adventures ahead in Eastern Nepal. Evening Activity:
In the evening, we head to Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated on the banks of the Bagmati River, this temple is a masterpiece of pagoda-style architecture with richly carved wooden doors and golden roofs. The temple complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and serves as a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus worldwide.

One of the highlights of the evening is the Pashupatinath Aarati Ceremony, a mesmerizing ritual that takes place on the riverbanks. The ceremony includes the chanting of Vedic hymns, ringing bells, blowing of conch shells, and traditional fire rituals performed by the temple priests. The energy of the devotees and the divine atmosphere make this a deeply spiritual experience. After spending time soaking in the vibrations of the Aarati, we return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Kathmandu.

2. Day
Spiritual & Heritage Tour – Patan Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath & Budhanilkantha

After breakfast, we begin our full-day exploration of Kathmandu’s most iconic spiritual and historical sites.

Our first stop is Patan Durbar Square, a stunning architectural heritage site and former royal palace of the Malla Kings. Patan, also known as Lalitpur, is famous for its exquisite Newari architecture, traditional courtyards, and temples adorned with detailed wood and stone carvings. Here, we visit Krishna Mandir, a magnificent temple built entirely of stone, Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple), and the Patan Museum, which houses centuries-old artifacts and showcases Nepalese art and history. The rich cultural ambiance of Patan, with its old alleyways and vibrant local markets, makes it a photographer’s paradise.

Next, we revisit Pashupatinath Temple, allowing us to see it in daylight and explore the different shrines and ashrams surrounding the main temple complex. This visit gives deeper insights into the religious significance of this sacred site and its role in Hindu rituals, especially the open cremation ceremonies along the riverbank.

From here, we proceed to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world and a major center of Tibetan Buddhism. This massive white dome with its all-seeing Buddha eyes symbolizes enlightenment and peace. Pilgrims walk in a clockwise direction around the stupa, rotating prayer wheels and chanting mantras as part of their spiritual practice and devotion. The surrounding area is filled with Tibetan monasteries, handicraft shops, and cafés where you can enjoy a cup of butter tea while taking in the serene atmosphere.

Our final stop for the day is Budhanilkantha Temple, located at the base of the Shivapuri Hills. This temple is famous for its gigantic reclining statue of Lord Vishnu, carved from a single black basalt stone and floating on a bed of coiled serpents (Shesha Naag) in a sacred pond. Measuring about 5 meters long, this awe-inspiring deity is a unique representation of Vishnu in his cosmic sleep (Yoganidra). Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the inner sanctum but can observe the statue from a distance. The peaceful surroundings of Budhanilkantha make it a perfect place for meditation and reflection.

After a spiritually fulfilling day, we return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Kathmandu.Accommodation: Babai Resort | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
