Ganesh Himal Trek is an adventure through one of Nepal’s most secluded and pristine regions, offering a unique opportunity to explore a lesser-known corner of the Himalayas. Named after Ganesh Himal, the Hindu deity of luck, this trek lies at the edge of Langtang, Annapurna, Manaslu, and other Tibetan ranges. It unveils hidden treasures, including exotic flora and fauna, stunning waterfalls, sacred stupas, dramatic rock formations, and serene village life. The region is also known for its mineral deposits, including ruby, crystal, and zinc.
Our journey begins with a bus or jeep ride from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,503m). The route is a visual feast of captivating high-altitude landscapes. We spend the first night in Syabrubesi before setting off the next morning to Gatlang. The trek to Gatlang, via Chawatar, offers an immersive experience through traditional Tamang villages, lush forests, and thrilling suspension bridges.
From Gatlang, we ascend to the holy Parvati Kunda (lake), marvel at its serene beauty, and continue to Somdang. Here, we explore abandoned mines of zinc, copper, crystal, and ruby. The journey then takes us over the stunning Pangsang Pass (3,842m) and down to Tipling (2,087m). From there, we navigate through the charming villages of Chalish and Shertung before reaching Hindung (Gomba Danda).
From Hindung, we trek to Thulo Dhunga (3,337m) and then ascend to Nojet Kharka (3,691m), the base camp for Ganesh Himal. After exploring Ganesh Himal Base Camp and enjoying panoramic views of the Ganesh Himal range and surrounding peaks, we return to Hindung (2,403m). A soak in the natural hot springs awaits before descending to Khading Gaon (2,025m), passing through Racyat/Kapor Gaon.
The trek continues through pleasant trails to Magne Ghoth (2,950m), then to Lapu Danda, and finally to Ganga Jamuna (950m), where you’ll enjoy stunning views of Mount Manaslu and other majestic peaks. After Ganga Jamuna, we proceed to Tripura Sundari (850m), traversing Brahmin villages, paddy fields, and flat plains. The trek ends with a bus journey back to Kathmandu from Tripura Sundari.

You will depart from Kathmandu early in the morning for Syabrubesi, a picturesque village and the gateway to the Langtang Valley. The 122-kilometer drive takes you through Trishuli Bazaar, Ramche Gaon, and Dhunche, offering stunning views of terraced fields and lush landscapes. Upon arrival in Syabrubesi, you'll register your permits and have time to explore the village. Syabrubesi is well-equipped for trekkers, with shops for gear and supplies. Embark on your trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang, a charming Tamang village. The trail leads through Bahun Dada Pass, offering magnificent views. You may choose to stop for lunch at Chawatar, renowned for its fresh, organic food. As you continue, enjoy the traditional Tamang culture in Gatlang, characterized by its vibrant local life and scenic beauty. Gatlang is a great place to experience the local culture and hospitality. Start your trek from Gatlang, heading towards Parvati Kunda, a sacred alpine lake. The trail offers stunning views and leads to Yuri Kharka for lunch. Continue through lush forests to Khurphu Bhanjyang and descend to Somdang. Somdang is known for its historical mine and rich natural surroundings. Book NowFor those with additional time, the Tamang Heritage Trail can be incorporated before the Langtang Valley Trek, or the trek can be extended by 3 to 5 days with the Helambu Circuit Trek at the end. A daily public bus with air conditioning departs from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi at 7:00 AM.
